Issuing a passport for the first time

Emergency Passport

The emergency passport is issued when the Uruguayan national needs documentation to travel urgently and the passport was stolen or lost. You can only apply for this procedure if your Uruguayan passport has not expired. This passport has a maximum validity of one year and is used only for emergency situations. In case of traveling to Uruguay, this document is retained upon entering the country. Therefore, in order to leave Uruguay again, a new passport must be obtained in Uruguay.

Requirements and documentation to present on the day of your appointment:

  • Police report (for theft or loss) at the local police station.

  • Copy of the last Uruguayan passport or identity card.

  • Travel Itinerary

  • We will finger print you, as well as take your picture and signature here at the Consulate.

  • Cost: $36, we only accept Money orders or cashier checks made out to the Consulate of Uruguay.
