Acknowledgement
If a child is registered by only one of its parents, the father/mother who does not appear on the birth certificate can acknowledge the child.
Requirements:
The birth certificate of the person to be acknowledged needs to be presented.
The person acknowledging the child needs to be present along with two witnesses, 18 years old or older, with corresponding identification documents need to be present (if they are foreigners, we accept valid documents in the country of origin, for example driver’s license)
When the person being acknowledged is older than 18 years old, said person will have to be present to sign the document.
The cost of this procedure is of $18, the payment for which is done with a money order or cashier check made out to the Consulate of Uruguay.
