Issuing a passport for the first time

Emergency Passport

The emergency passport is issued when the Uruguayan national needs a valid travel document urgently. It can only be applied for if the citizen has or has had a Cédula de Identidad (Uruguayan ID card) or had a Uruguayan passport previously. This passport has a validity of one year, it is handed to the citizen the same day as the appointment and is only used in emergency situations. In the case of traveling to Uruguay

Requirements and documentation to present on the day of your appointment:

  • Previous Uruguayan passport (expired or about to expire) and/or cédula de identidad – Uruguayan ID card – (expired or about to expire)

  • Travel Itinerary

  • We will finger print you, as well as take your picture and signature here at the Consulate.

  • Cost: $36, we only accept Money orders or cashier checks made out to the Consulate of Uruguay.
