Previous Uruguayan passport (valid or expired) and/or cédula de identidad – Uruguayan ID card – (valid or expired). If you do not have any document, we issue an operative passport.

Passports can be renewed up to 1 year prior to its expiration date.

If you lost your passport or was stolen, you will have to present the police report.

Birth certificate if born outside the capital city.

We will finger print you, as well as take your picture and signature here at the Consulate.

Cost: USD 36.00.

Your passport will arrive at the Consulate approximately in six weeks beginning the day the process was begun.

In case you wish for your passport to be sent to your home, you must bring on the day of your appointment a United States Postal Service (USPS) Priority Mail envelope with a tracking number and the appropriate postage stamps.

Background Check of the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), must be Apostilled by the United States Department of State.

The Background Check will be valid for 6 months.

The Background Check must be translated by a translator from Uruguay or by the Consular Office (cost USD 54.00 per page).
