The death of a Uruguayan citizen abroad can be registered in the Civil Registry of Uruguay.

Request an appointment by sending an email to cdmiami@mrree.gub.uy with the following scanned documentation:

– Apostilled death certificate.

– Current Identification of two witnesses (Uruguayans or foreigners). If you are a foreigner, documents valid in the country of origin are accepted, such as a driver’s license).

On the day of the appointment, the apostilled death certificate and current Id’s of the declarants must be presented.

Registrations can be made only for those people who died in the following States: (Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Puerto Rico, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Dominica and US Virgin Islands).

The cost of this procedure is USD 18.00.
