Tourism Visa
Those who wish to enter Uruguay on a temporary basis for pleasure or for a break will have to apply for a tourism visa.
Length of stay: If the visa is issued, the length of stay in Uruguay is of 90 days, which can be extended to another 90 days. It will be a multiple entry tourism visa for the duration of the visa.
Duration of the visa: 180 days beginning the day the visa is issued (stamped).
The interested person will have to present the visa request with at least 40 business days prior to the trip. The requirements are the following:
Application Form complete and signed.
Valid passport (at least for the next 6 months of arriving Uruguay). The passport needs to be in a good state. The Consulate does not hold the passport.
- One passport-sized photograph (2″x2″).
Valid visa or green card.
- Working letter.
An invitation letter from the person in Uruguay with a copy of the uruguayan ID (cedula de identidad) or hotel reservation made under the traveling person’s name. If you are not spending the night in the country you don’t need to fill out that part.
The last Bank Statement.

Once everything requested has been completed and sent, you will receive a communication to make the payment (Money Order or Cashier check payable to Consulate of Uruguay for U$S 54.00, in person or by mail).
