Visa for congresses, conventions and seminars on a national or international level

Those who wish to enter Uruguay who can provide an invitation from the organizers of the event on a national or international of public interest that take place in Uruguay will have to apply for a work visa.

Length of stay: If the visa is issued, the length of stay in Uruguay is of 90 days, which can be extended to another 90 days. It will be a multiple entry business visa for the duration of the visa.

Duration of the visa: 180 days beginning the day the visa is issued (stamped).

The interested person will have to present the visa request with at least 40 business days prior to the trip.

The requirements are the following:

  • Application Form complete and signed.
  • Valid passport (at least for the next 6 months of arriving Uruguay), which is returned to the passport holder at that time. The passport needs to be in a good state. The Consulate does not hold the passport.
  • One passport-sized photograph.
  • Letter of invitation from the event organizers. In the case of institutions or private organizations, the letter will have to include a description of the institution and of the event taking place and the registration number or rating of that institution before the Education and Culture Department. As well as, it will have to include the contact information of the institution or organization.
  • Document that credits the level of public interest of the event.
  • Reserved airline ticket or bought airline ticket (roundtrip).
  • Hotel reservation or other proof of stay.

  • Once everything requested has been completed and sent, you will receive a communication to make the payment (Money Order or Cashier check payable to Consulate of Uruguay for U$S 54.00, in person or by mail).
