Apostille

In 2012, Uruguay joined the Hague Convention on the Apostille. Since then, documents issued by the United States authorities have to be apostilled to have validity in Uruguay, due to which legalization of documents at the Consulate is no longer necessary.

The Apostille must be obtained in the State in which the document was issued; the corresponding offices for this Consulate’s jurisdiction are the following:

  • Delaware Secretary of State

  • District of Columbia Secretary of State

  • Indiana Secretary of State

  • Kentucky Secretary of State

  • Maryland Secretary of State

  • North Carolina Secretary of State

  • Ohio Secretary of State

  • Pennsylvania Secretary of the Commonwealth

  • Virginia Secretary of the Commonwealth

  • West Virginia Secretary of State

Apostilla
