Issuing a passport for the first time

Passport Valid for a Single Return Trip to Uruguay

  • This document is issued only when the Uruguayan citizen needs a travel document to travel to Uruguay urgently. It can only be requested if the citizen has previously had a cédula de identidad (Uruguayan ID card) or Uruguayan Passport. This travel document can only be used once and will remain in the possession of Uruguayan migration authorities once you enter the country.
  • It is issued within eight days prior to the trip and handed over the day of the appointment. It is only used for emergency situations.
Requirements and documentation to present on the day of your appointment:

  • Previous Uruguayan passport (expired or about to expire) and/or cédula de identidad – Uruguayan ID card – (expired or about to expire) (If you have lost the previously mentioned documents, this document can still be issued through identity confirmation in the Consulate).

  • Travel Itinerary

  • We will finger print you, as well as take your picture and signature here at the Consulate.

  • Cost: $18, we only accept Money orders or cashier checks made out to the Consulate of Uruguay.
