Family reunification visa
Family reunification visas may be applied to by persons who wish to be reunited with their family members in accordance with article 10 of Law Number 18,250 of 6 2008. Reunification may be requested by parents, spouses, minor unmarried children or adults with disabilities. This process may be carried out with a family member who is a permanent resident or who is in the process of becoming a resident, provided that proof of legally accredited income has been presented to the National Department of Migration and that the family member in Uruguay has given their express consent.
Length of stay: 30 days. For the purpose of managing your residence, you will have a period of 30 days from the date of entry into the country. The family reunification visa shall be single entry.
Duration of the visa: 180 days beginning the day the visa is issued (stamped).
The interested person will have to present the visa request with at least 20 business days prior to the trip. The requirements are the following:
Application Form complete and signed.
Valid passport (at least for the next 6 months of arriving Uruguay), which is returned to the passport holder at that time. The passport needs to be in a good state. The Consulate does not hold the passport.
One passport-sized photograph.
Copy of the Uruguayan identification document belonging to the family member in Uruguay with whom they will reunite.
Document issued by the competent authority attesting to the family’s link to reunification (Birth or Marriage Certificate, which ever corresponds) apostilled or duly legalized.
In the case of a person under 18 years of age, you will have to present an authorization from his legal representatives to reside in Uruguay.
