If a person who was born abroad is child, or grandchild, of at least one natural Uruguayan citizen, then that person is considered a Uruguayan national.

If a child is registered by only one of its parents, the father/mother who does not appear on the birth certificate can acknowledge the child.

The passing of a Uruguayan citizen abroad can be registered in the Uruguayan Civil Register.
